Kevin Prawl
“If you come to worship for any reason other then the joy and pleasure and satisfaction that are to be found in God, you dishonor Him…God’s greatest delight is your delight in Him” Sam Storms.
Kevin Prawl has served the members of Park Avenue Baptist Church for over 25 years; leading them in worship and teaching ministries. His love for God, church and music stems back to his childhood where he sang in church, played trumpet in band and was a member of high school choir. “Solo music is a nice personal expression to God, but corporate music is what thrills me because it allows many to share together in the experience of praise to our Savior.” After attending Central Baptist College in Conway, AR, where he studied music, he has served the Lord at several churches in Arkansas. During his years of ministry there has been many changes in the music and styles of worship. Finding an acceptable balance of traditional and contemporary styles is a big challenge but keeping the focus on Jesus Christ is his main objective. Kevin also loves leading the Kid’s Choir and the Adult Choir in musical programs throughout the year. These group are often asked to help lead our congregation in worship, adding to “JOY” that we give to the Father.
Kevin also serves the church as Commander of it’s AWANA program on Wednesday nights, which the Lord has greatly blessed for 22+ years. PABC has a wonderful AWANA staff who teach and interact with children from our church and the community in our AWANA clubs. Some of our AWANA staffers are in fact, former clubbers of our AWANA clubs. AWANA clubs teach children from 3yrs through 6th grade Bible scripture and spiritual truths so they can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Then they are led by their leaders to grow spiritually during their young lives with Biblical training. During the summer, when AWANA clubs are on summer break, you will find Kevin involved in Vacation Bible School (a big deal at PABC), church camp, youth events and children’s activities.
It is these passions (God, church, music and children) and the support of his wonderful, talented wife Lisa that inspire Kevin to be a faithful steward of the talents that God has blessed him with.
“Worship is to feel in the heart and express in an appropriate manner a humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe” A.W. Tozer.
